Rocking the Blues Concert

Drive-By Truckers with The Decoys

and special guests, Donnie Fritts and Spooner Oldham

The Decoys, a local band with members, Scott Boyer, Kelvin Holly, David Hood, N.C. Thurman, and Mike Dillon will open the evening.  During the performance, the band will be joined by Muscle Shoals legends and special guests, Donnie Fritts and Spooner Oldham.

A band out of Athens, Ga., Drive-By Truckers have three members from the Florence region, Patterson Hood, Mike Cooley, and Shonna Tucker.

Drive-By Truckers was co-founded by Patterson Hood (son of legendary bassist David Hood of the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section) and longtime friend, Mike Cooley in Athens, Georgia, in 1996.

The concert will present the passing of the sound of Muscle Shoals to the next generation of artists, who over the years are quickly establishing themselves as legendary rockers.

The concert program is made possible by grants from the Alabama State Council on the Arts, South Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts with sponsorship by the Alabama Folklife Association, University of North Alabama, Billy Reid clothing store, and the W.C. Handy Music Festival.
